taking me so far out of my comfort zone it’s not even funny.

so when sandiegomomma says she’s offering writing prompts on her blog to get everyone’s creative juices flowing, i say, “sure i’m game.” and then she expects us to be creative. here was today’s prompt and the rules:

Write a nonsense poem. Make up words. Create silly sentences. Whatever. Just make it all a bunch of make believe and not making sense-it-ness.

and don’t ask me where this came from, but i wrote it in under two minutes.

Mr. Smug

i knew a little bug
who was feeling pretty smug
curled up in his rug
superior to that slug
then the salt shaker
sent him to his maker
feeling a little less smug
curled up in his rug.

maybe my subconscious is feeling empathetic today? hmmmm.
